At ESSI, we conduct applied research to help industry answer practical questions.
ESSI was founded in 2015 by Dr. Susan Arnold and Dr. Gurumurthy Ramachandran to provide excellence in Exposure Science and Sustainability research and training, responding to industry identified needs. The Institute’s activities include both services and products that help address specific research questions and provide specific deliverables to pre-defined customers.
Located in a ~ 140 square meter facility, our full-size exposure chamber provides a controlled environment in which to conduct simulated tasks and exposure scenario studies.
In addition to the exposure chamber, this facility includes two wet-chemistry laboratories equipped with fume hoods, a wind tunnel, two biological safety cabinets and an enclosed cabinet for filter-testing.
The lab has considerable equipment for generating and measuring gases, vapors, and particulate matter, including biological aerosols.
