Congratulations to ESSI Fellow, Dr. Sahmel, her recent successful PhD defense! Dr. Sahmel’s dissertation entitled “The Role of Quantitative Dermal Transfer of Non-Volatile Substances to and from the Skin in Models for Dermal Exposure Assessment” focuses on transfer mechanisms contributing to dermal exposure and their relative impact on uptake. Through this research, she has advanced the scientific knowledge of critical dermal exposure model inputs.
